About the role

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Auditor to ensure the integrity of its financial management system and internal controls. You will work to verify compliance with mission responsibilities, applicable laws, regulations, and accounting policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assure that the financial management system and internal controls are adequate.
• Determine the degree of compliance with laws, regulations, standard operating procedures, and financial policies.
• Utilize professional accounting and auditing skills to oversee implementation of financial internal‑control programs.
• Develop or modify auditing methods and techniques to resolve complex auditing problems.
• Analyze and evaluate audit reports, findings, corrective‑action statements, and recommendations.
• Respond to inquiries from supervisors and bureau/office representatives.

Required profile

• Knowledge of financial management systems and internal controls.
• Experience in applying accounting and auditing principles.
• Ability to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating audit findings and recommendations.
