Construction Engineer (Temporary, 3 months) – Cotonou

About the role

The Construction Engineer will support UNICEF's construction activities in Benin, reporting to the Supply and Logistics Specialist. The role involves planning, procurement support, and on‑site monitoring to ensure construction interventions meet programme needs and deliver results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan for the country office.
• Collaborate with UNICEF programmes, operations and government counterparts to define construction interventions.
• Develop design and technical documents for projects.
• Support the procurement process for construction services and materials.
• Monitor construction projects on site to ensure compliance with standards and timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in project monitoring, site supervision, quality assurance or related technical fields at national or international level.
• Fluency in French is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
• Experience in emergency response, humanitarian or UN contexts and familiarity with green building, accessibility and child‑friendly design are strong assets.
• Commitment to UNICEF’s core values and competencies.
