Information Extraction Specialist

About the role

The Information Extraction Specialist will design and operate pipelines that turn unstructured and semi‑structured data into clean, structured datasets. Working remotely, you will apply NLP, machine‑learning, and rule‑based techniques to a wide range of document types for global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement extraction pipelines for legal contracts, medical records, financial reports, news articles, and technical documentation.
• Create and manage high‑quality training datasets, define sampling strategies, and lead annotation teams.
• Evaluate model performance using precision, recall, and F1, analyse errors and iterate on guidelines or model architecture.
• Assess, integrate, and customise open‑source and commercial extraction tools and platforms.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows to streamline the extraction process.
• Adapt extraction systems to new domains quickly, building accurate domain‑specific guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in information extraction, NLP, or computational linguistics.
• Strong problem‑solving ability with a track record of analysing model errors and delivering data‑driven improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, capable of documenting complex guidelines.
• Proven experience designing annotation schemas and handling ambiguous extraction cases.

Required skills

• Python programming for data analysis and NLP tasks.
• Familiarity with NLP libraries such as spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers, and Stanford CoreNLP.
