Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient records—including operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes—and assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure all coding complies with federal, state, NHS, or payer‑specific guidelines for revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians for clarification, and resolve coding errors to prevent claim denials.
• Maintain high data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or the recognized UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer, high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure workspace compliant with HIPAA/GDPR.
