Communication Assistant G5

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a Communication Assistant G5 in Cotonou, Benin. Reporting under the general supervision of the Country Director or the CO Communications Lead and with technical oversight from the Regional Communication, Advocacy and Marketing unit, the post provides research and specialized communications services that support content and services for WFP's visibility and reputation, advocacy on issues relevant to WFP's goals, and fundraising support.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely production of communication products for advocacy in line with the communications strategy, gather content on country efforts and support the production of human-interest stories, multimedia products, news releases and factsheets.
• Research, suggest ideas and coordinate video, film, photographic and radio projects, and manage the storage and distribution of audio-visual materials.
• Serve as an information focal point for media coverage of events, organize news conferences and field visits, and maintain a list of media contacts while monitoring traditional and social media.
• Prepare content for traditional and social media and printed materials, and support community radio relations and community engagement during field visits, donor and media tours.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, international relations, public relations, communications or another relevant field, or a first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience (the text is cut off).
