About the role

Amentum, a global services partner supporting U.S. Department of Justice programs, is seeking a qualified candidate to act as Counterterrorism Law Enforcement Intelligence Operations Mentor in Benin. The mentor trains, advises and assists the Benin Police Republicaine Counterterrorism Cell (CTC) so it can independently carry out counterterrorism intelligence operations against the threat in Benin's northern border region. This is an independent contractor position with Amentum, not an employment relationship.

Key responsibilities

  • Train, mentor and advise the CTC under the Benin Counterterrorism Law Enforcement Training, Equipment, and Mentorship Program, in coordination with the Benin Counterterrorism Law Enforcement Assistance Attaché.
  • Collaborate with other mentors and regularly meet with CTC Intelligence Officers and Analysts to guide their operations and investigations.
  • Support resolution of issues with Government of Benin partners and the training of intelligence cycle processes and best practices.
  • Help institutionalize knowledge through tactical and operational policy and plans to identify, disrupt and prevent terrorist activity and prosecute suspects.
  • Identify, procure and deliver equipment and technology for the CTC, and support performance monitoring plans for its officers and analysts.
  • Monitor project indicators, compile data on progress, and draft weekly, significant activity and monthly reports.

Required profile

  • 15 years of experience in a federal, state or municipal law enforcement or intelligence agency as a sworn officer, agent or intelligence officer/analyst.
  • 10 years of counterterrorism intelligence operations, or a mix of counterterrorism and other complex criminal or national security operations using databases, analytical software and surveillance tools.
  • Experience with open-source intelligence, including social media exploitation.
  • Overseas experience in austere environments and ability to work independently with general direction.
  • Previous mentoring of intelligence operations at tactical and strategic levels, and experience defining technical requirements for equipment and technology.
  • Graduate of a certified police or intelligence academy; Bachelor's degree or equivalent; instructor certification preferred.
  • Professional or native fluency in English; French is desired.

Required skills

  • Microsoft 365 or equivalent.
  • Multi-tasking across several lines of effort to meet program timelines.
