Excel Specialist (Remote Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely, you will collaborate with finance, marketing, and operational teams across Africa to build advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards, and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate repetitive data entry, extraction, and report generation.
• Clean, validate, and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Build dynamic forecasting, budgeting, and performance‑tracking models to support senior‑management decisions.
• Review, audit, and troubleshoot existing Excel files to detect and resolve errors in formulas and data mapping.
• Translate technical data insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience focused on data analysis, spreadsheet management, or financial modeling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines across African time zones.
• Exceptional problem‑solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• VBA programming and macro development.
• Power BI familiarity.
• SQL database knowledge.
• Data visualization principles.
