Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor leads daily building, janitorial, and grounds maintenance operations for the City’s public works services. This hands‑on supervisory position ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality upkeep of facilities, parks, and public amenities.

Key responsibilities

• Assign work, coordinate staffing, and monitor productivity of technicians, crew leads, contractors, seasonal employees, and vendors.
• Ensure timely completion of work orders, preventive‑maintenance tasks, cleaning standards, and service requests.
• Inspect City facilities, pavilions, gazebos, Bigbelly trash cans, exterior amenities, parks infrastructure, grounds, and restrooms to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Maintain and document fire extinguishers, AEDs, and other life‑safety equipment to meet compliance standards.
• Enforce safety procedures and oversee proper use of vehicles, tools, ladders, PPE, and cleaning supplies.
• Operate vehicles, tools, and equipment as needed for maintenance and emergency response.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, utilities, event organizers, and internal DPW divisions.

Required profile

• Working supervisor who can perform field duties alongside crew members.
• Strong ability to assign tasks, monitor attendance, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Reports to the Manager/Deputy Director and directs a diverse team of maintenance staff.
