Flight Doctor

About the role

The Flight Doctor provides clinical care throughout the patient journey in an aeromedical environment, from pre‑flight assessment to in‑flight evaluation and post‑flight management. The role ensures high standards of patient care while supporting the operational readiness of the aeromedical team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct prompt clinical assessment and management of emergency patients during aeromedical missions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Complete and maintain accurate medical documentation and clinical reports.
• Deliver care according to established clinical guidelines, protocols, and SOPs.
• Maintain professional competence, licensing, and required physical fitness.
• Participate in training, quality assurance, audit activities and continuous service improvement.

Required profile

• Specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesiology or Intensive Care Medicine recognized in the EU, UK, Australia or South Africa.
• Medical degree and licence to practice from the EU, UK, Australia or South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an acute care setting, preferably with remote or aeromedical exposure.
• Experience administering blood products in remote or austere environments.

Required skills

• Current certification in ATLS, ETC, PHTLS or ITLS.
• Current certification in ACLS or ALS.
