Remote Medical Coder – Full‑time

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with US or UK coding standards to support proper reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes.
• Assign appropriate ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding compliance with federal, state, NHS, and payer‑specific guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Correct coding errors, address claim denials, and optimize reimbursement.
• Maintain high data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.
