Janitorial Crew Lead

About the role

The Janitorial Crew Lead is the primary field resource for daily cleaning operations across City offices, public buildings, community centers and event spaces. This full‑time position combines hands‑on janitorial work with leadership, training and quality‑assurance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform daily janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, restroom cleaning and waste collection.
• Lead floor‑care operations including stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, polishing, carpet extraction and specialty treatments.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and coaching to Janitorial Technicians, seasonal, temporary and contract staff.
• Conduct quality‑assurance inspections and ensure compliance with City cleanliness, safety and sanitation standards.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, overseeing ordering and stock levels.
• Support facility operations and event set‑up, delivering customer service to employees, visitors and contractors.
• Assist the Facilities Supervisor/Manager with work‑assignment planning and productivity monitoring.

Required profile

• Reports to the Facilities Supervisor/Manager and directs a diverse team of janitorial personnel.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi‑site cleaning schedules and maintain high service standards.
• Strong focus on safety, efficiency and presentation of public facilities.

Required skills

• Floor‑care equipment operation (stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, polishing, carpet cleaning).
• Inventory management for cleaning supplies and tools.
• Quality‑assurance inspection techniques.
