Budget Analyst – International NGO (Benin)

About the role

The Budget Analyst will support CIVIC’s mission by preparing budget versus actual reports, monitoring spending, and delivering financial analyses to optimise project fund allocation across Benin.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate budget proposals and funding requests in collaboration with project managers.
• Prepare, update and review budget templates and trackers to monitor program spending.
• Conduct cost‑benefit analyses and forecast financial needs by country and organisation‑wide.
• Monitor spending to ensure compliance with budgets and legal regulations.
• Assess the impact of foreign currency exchange rates on proposals and expenditures.
• Analyse actual financial results, identify spending trends and provide insights.
• Review time‑keeping practices to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
• Prepare periodic and special financial reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of budget or finance experience, preferably with international NGOs.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French.
• Valid authorization to work in Benin without sponsorship; nationals preferred.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Accounting software; knowledge of Sage Intacct is preferred.
