Chief Social Policy Officer (P-4) – Fixed Term – Cotonou, Benin

About the role

The Chief Social Policy leads UNICEF's social policy programming in Benin, reporting to the Representative. The role oversees strategic planning, advocacy and partnership building to improve child‑focused public policies, social protection coverage and public finance management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership for social policy programmes.
• Improve data on child poverty and vulnerability for policy and programme action.
• Develop and plan social protection programmes.
• Strengthen social protection coverage and impact for children.
• Enhance the use of public finance for children at national and local levels.
• Lead advocacy and build partnerships for child‑sensitive social policy.
• Oversee UNICEF programme management related to social policy.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in advocacy, partnership building, data analysis, budget analysis and strategic planning.
