Driver G2

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a Driver G2 based in Kandi, under the Programme Associate programme. The driver ensures the safe and efficient transport of authorised personnel and goods, and assists with airport arrivals and vehicle maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Transport authorised personnel and goods safely, following UN security regulations and approved routes, and interpret simple exchanges with local speakers.
• Welcome official staff and visitors at airports or entry points and help them with visa and customs formalities.
• Keep the service book up to date and report daily the mechanical condition of vehicles.
• Check that each vehicle is clean, maintained on time, equipped with required gear and travel authorisations, and report mechanical problems.
• Follow delivery rules on site and report accidents or problems immediately to the supervisor.
• Perform simple administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, stock management, mail handling and bill payments when needed.

Required profile

• Secondary education completed.
• Official driver training and a valid driving licence or certificate for the assigned vehicle.
• At least two years of driving experience, preferably in an embassy, UN body or international organisation, with a good driving record.
• Experience driving different makes and models, including vans; preventive driving experience desirable.
• Proficiency (level C) in the official UN language used at the posting and the local language.

Required skills

• Knowledge of road rules, vehicle loading capacity, safety equipment and emergency first aid.
• Able to read safety manuals and procedures, use radios and electronic devices, and assess vehicle condition.
• Good sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact.
