Environmental & Climate Change Advisor (Volunteer)

About the role

Cuso International is seeking a motivated Environmental and Climate Change Advisor to join its SHARE volunteer programme in Porto Novo, Benin. This five‑month assignment focuses on supporting women and youth in building resilience to climate change through agroecology and green economic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in conducting environmental diagnostics and identifying training needs.
• Develop tools to mitigate climate‑related risks for women and young people.
• Train beneficiaries in agroecological production, sustainable soil and water management, and the use of natural inputs.
• Identify and engage technical and financial partners, preparing concise fact‑sheets on funding procedures.
• Provide capacity‑building workshops for partner‑organization staff on environmental protection projects, climate adaptation/mitigation, and agroecology.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental science, agriculture, climate studies or a related field.
• Relevant experience in climate change adaptation, mitigation, or agroecology.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Eligibility: Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Required skills

• Knowledge of agroecological production techniques.
• Understanding of sustainable soil and water management practices.
• Ability to develop training materials and diagnostic tools.
