National Consultant for SMART Nutrition Survey – Cotonou, Benin

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior national consultant to lead the implementation of a SMART‑standardized nutrition survey in Cotonou, Benin. The consultant will oversee the design, data collection, analysis and reporting of the survey, providing disaggregated data to inform nutrition and essential social services, including emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and adapt the SMART methodology for national‑level data collection, including sample size calculation and sampling strategy.
• Recruit, train and supervise field teams, ensuring high‑quality mobile data collection using Open Data Kit Collect.
• Manage data entry, cleaning and analysis using ENA, Epi‑Info, SPSS or SAS, and produce comprehensive technical reports.
• Coordinate with UNICEF country office and local partners to align survey outputs with policy and program needs.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum Bac+5) in Nutrition, Public Health or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience conducting national and international nutrition surveys using the SMART methodology.
• Proven experience with mobile data collection tools (Open Data Kit) and advanced data analysis.
• Fluent French with excellent written and oral communication skills.
