Janitorial Crew Lead

About the role

The Department of Public Works is seeking a Janitorial Crew Lead to coordinate and participate in daily cleaning operations across city offices, public buildings, community centers, and event spaces. This full‑time position combines hands‑on janitorial work with leadership, training, and quality‑assurance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily janitorial activities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, restroom cleaning, waste and recycling collection, window cleaning, and pressure washing.
• Oversee floor‑care operations such as stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, polishing, carpet extraction, and specialty cleaning.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment and proper storage.
• Conduct quality‑assurance inspections and provide technical guidance to janitorial technicians, seasonal staff, temporary workers, and contract crews.
• Coordinate schedules and routes across multiple facilities to maintain consistent service standards.
• Support facility events, customer service requests, and overall operational coordination.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial or institutional cleaning operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train a diverse cleaning team.
• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple sites and schedules.
• Commitment to maintaining safe, sanitary, and presentable environments for employees, visitors, and the public.
