Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely with finance, marketing and operational teams across Africa, you will build advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit and troubleshoot existing Excel files to resolve formula errors and data mapping issues.
• Translate technical data insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience focused on data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modeling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines across African time zones.
• Strong problem‑solving, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel – advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot and Power Query.
• VBA macro development and custom scripting.
• Power BI, SQL databases and data‑visualisation principles.
