Port Agency Operations Manager (Benin)

About the role

CMA CGM Group is looking for a Port Agency Operations Manager in Benin, reporting to the Cluster General Manager. The role provides support and expertise for developing port activities within the cluster and coordinates, leads, pilots and supervises all activities of the Operations departments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a solid, qualified and experienced team, keeping it aligned with the group's and agency's strategies, targets and instructions
• Monitor performance and KPIs together with the local team and GBS, and ensure alignment with the Core model, processes and tools
• Collaborate with lines, partners and agency commercial and ILS management to set clear objectives and procedures per service, achieving the best results commercially, operationally and cost-wise
• Ensure smooth collaboration between Vessel OPS, Cargo OPS, Transshipment, Cargo readiness, Cargo Flow and Ship Manager
• Coach teams on asset productivity, cargo loading priorities, less dwell time and operational cost reduction
• Build good relationships with ports, terminals, partners, stevedores, husbandry agencies, authorities and other stakeholders
• Identify local opportunities, forecast and report major events, and prepare mitigation plans
• Work with procurement on contract and SLA renewals, and monitor cost-saving initiatives to control OPEX
• Coordinate with local IT on EDI development needs and review daughter agency OPS performance

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree (5 years of higher education) from a Merchant Navy school, a master's in Transport and Logistics, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of professional experience in maritime activities in a similar position
• Professional network in the maritime sector and a first successful experience in team management preferred
• Fluent French and professional English; computer literate
