Consultant – Technology Translation Toolkit for TAAT

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a qualified consultant to develop a Technology Translation Toolkit for the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) programme. The toolkit will provide a repeatable process for converting validated agricultural technologies into structured learning pathways and a suite of learning materials for use by master trainers, national trainers, extension officers, and farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing TAAT documentation and training materials to identify reusable components.
• Analyse current Training of Trainers (ToT) and cascade training templates.
• Design a comprehensive Technology Translation Framework that aligns with TAAT objectives.
• Develop the Technology Translation Toolkit, including guidelines, templates, and workflow processes.
• Create a multi‑level learning architecture that supports master trainers, national trainers, extension officers, lead farmers and farmers.
• Ensure the toolkit maintains technical accuracy while being adaptable to different learner groups.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) or cascade training programmes.
• Background in agricultural technology, extension services, or related development sectors.
• Strong understanding of knowledge translation and instructional design principles.
• Ability to work independently and produce high‑quality deliverables within agreed timelines.
